It's been many years since our last visit to Wildfire in Glenview. That happens when you move out of state. First thing I noticed was that for a Friday night visit there wasn't anyone waiting to be seated. This place used to be jammed. Most tables were filled however, so many people are just eating earlier and we beat the crowds. We were seated immediately and ordered a glass of wine. I ordered the half herb roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and a side of creamy spinach. Wifey ordered the Friday special filet Wellington with scallop potatoes. We'll the Wellington was eaten the potatoes were left on the plate. Also ordered the cornbread skillet. Years ago that was given in place of rolls which are put out now. The cornbread has a slight kick to it which is noticed after you finished it. The chicken and Wellington came shortly afterwards. Both were enjoyed. Spinach was good as was the mashed potatoes. Ordered the blueberry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which was shared and enjoyed. Nice crust. Found a 3% restaurant surcharge on my bill. Not sure what that went for or to whom. Our server was friendly and answered our questions and the restaurant still looks very clean and a joy to dine in.

Recent Visit Much Better... My last couple visits here weren't great, but I had some $$ in my Lettuce Wallet to spend, so thought we'd try again. Food was very good. I had halibut and my husband had duck. He started with crab cakes, which were inadvertently delivered to a nearby table, but he said they were worth the wait. We had wine by the glass and the selection is always good. We each had a slice of pie (cherry and blueberry) for dessert. It was a nice afternoon so we dined on the patio, which was lovely and much quieter than inside. Our server seemed new, but she did a nice job of taking care of us, especially after the missing crabcakes snafu. We'll definitely be back.

While visiting with some friends. It was recommended to me to try Wildfire. This restaurant definitely had a cozy feel and laid back atmosphere. We started off with jumbo shrimp and crab cakes. The crab cakes were phenomenal. The crab cakes were probably the best I have had. Then the table ordered the grilled chicken club Sandwich. The Smoked Salmon and then the NY Steak Sandwich with fries. Also we got roasted vegetables which was amazing. The overall experience was okay, the service was a little slow. But the restaurant was packed. Overall I would give my experience and food a 7.7. Service could have been better. But the restaurant was nice, but overall the people made the experience better. If you are ever in the area, definitely give wildfire a try!

What a delightful evening we had. A big part of it was the service. We always have good service at Wildfire, but I need to start this with a thank you to our server, Kevin. He made our night! Wildfire is one of my favorite places to visit. It's a special place we reserve only for special occasions. This time, it was my wife's birthday. And we celebrated. We started with salads - I had a side salad (mixed greens), and we also had a wedge salad. The wedge was huge and loaded with bacon. Both were outstanding. There are so many great choices for entrees it took us a while to make our selections. They had a menu of specials that complicated our decisions, too. We chose Filet Mignon with Bearnaise Sauce, Simply Grilled Branzino (one of their specials), Chicken and Ribs, and Twin Pork Chops. As always, everything was terrific. Everything came with sides, but their Grilled Roasted Vegetables stood out! Their portions are enormous. The combination of the food's quality and the amount served makes their prices (which are high) a great value. My "doggie bag" meal lasted for one more dinner and two lunches! Since we had a birthday at the table, they brought a special dessert--a chocolate cake--probably chocolate fudge. It wasn't large, but it was dense and very rich. I didn't have any, but I was told it was supreme. As always, it was a great experience. It was an experience I know we'll repeat, and I want to find a way to create another special occasion so we can visit soon.

This is definitely one of the best places for a meal in the local area. When you walk in, you are greeted by the host and if waiting for others, there is seating available. Once inside, the warm wood tones help you relax and sit back while your server ensures that you have everything you like to drink and provides a fantastic onion roll to hold back that starving feeling you may have. I ordered a petite filet mignon with a side of macaroni and cheese. When I order a medium rare steak, I expect it to come out medium most of the time. But this medium rare was medium rare! Topped with a Parmesan crust, it is one of the best steaks I have had in quite some time. The Mac and cheese was also cooked perfectly and provided the perfect balance to my steak. Others at my table got the lump crab cake sandwich which had rave reviews, and the club sandwich which was also reported to be good. For dessert, I have the triple chocolate cake. The cake was also... perfect. The icing was just thick enough and the cake tasted like it was made that morning. Yes, this can be a pricey meal, but it is perfect for special occasions.
